DISCOVERY CENTRE @WESTHILLS FC

The Discovery Centre is a community-based, grassroots development program for new, emerging and club-developing players between the ages of 2 and 11 years.

The main goals of the program are to help eliminate barriers preventing participation in community programming, increase overall physical activity by developing good physical literacy and fundamental movement skills, and introduce more kids to the sport of soccer.

Sessions take place at the new turf located at Centre Mountain Lellum Middle School – 3090 Constellation Ave, Langford, BC V9B 0V2

Program Overview

The Discovery Program sessions will be led by trained coaches from Westcastle International Academy’s Women and Men’s Residency programs and supervised by a Technical Lead.

  • Warm-Up Games
  • Station-based training (Physical Literacy, Game, Technical skill, Social Activity)
  • One adult family member is on the field with the player
  • 1v1 activities as a scrimmage
  • Players must wear T-shirts, shorts or tracksuits and cleats/runners
  • Shin guards are not required

Ages 4-5

  • Warm-Up Games
  • Station-based training (Physical Literacy, Game, Technical skill, Social Activity)
  • No adults are allowed on the field outside of the coach
  • 3v3 activities following the BCSA/CSA game model
  • Players must wear T-shirts, shorts or tracksuits and cleats/runners
  • Shin guards required for all players

Ages 6-7

  • 4v4 or 5v5 following the BCSA/CSA game model
