DISCOVERY CENTRE @WESTHILLS FC

The Discovery Centre @ Westhills FC is a community-driven grassroots soccer program designed for players of all levels, from U4 to U12. Led by experienced technical staff, each session provides tailored, high-quality coaching to support every player’s development.

DC - FOUNDATION PHASE (U3-U6)

The DC Foundation Program for U3-U6 players is a fun and engaging grassroots soccer development program open to all skill levels. Led by our experienced technical staff, each session provides age-appropriate coaching to help young players build confidence and a love for the game.

Sessions combine technical skill development with small-sided games, following BC Soccer grassroots guidelines to create an ideal learning environment for early-stage players.

DC - ACADEMY PHASE (U7-U12)

The DC Academy program is designed to help developing players aged U7-U12 build fundamental soccer skills through weekly training sessions. The training focuses on developing individual abilities such as dribbling, close ball control, and passing. 

Players will develop their skills in small-sided game scenarios, mastering 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 situations in both attack and defence.

By participating in the DC Academy, players will gain valuable experience in combination plays, individual skills, and group-defending techniques. 

The program also allows players to showcase their development by being invited to the WIA’s 4v4 Small Goal Festival, where they can apply what they’ve learned in a fun, competitive environment. This program is a great way to help young players build confidence and improve their overall game.

The Discovery Program sessions will be led by trained coaches from Westcastle International Academy’s Women and Men’s Residency programs and supervised by a Technical Lead.

  • Station-based training (Physical Literacy, Game, Technical skill, Social Activity)
  • One adult family member is on the field with the player
  • 1v1 activities as a scrimmage
  • Players must wear T-shirts, shorts or tracksuits and cleats/runners
  • Shin guards are not required

Ages 4-5

  • Warm-Up Games
  • Station-based training (Physical Literacy, Game, Technical skill, Social Activity)
  • No adults are allowed on the field outside of the coach
  • 3v3 activities following the BCSA/CSA game model
  • Players must wear T-shirts, shorts or tracksuits and cleats/runners
  • Shin guards required for all players

Ages 6-7
